Gallbladder Cancer Surgery

Gallbladder cancer is a type of cancer that originates in the gallbladder. The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ located on the upper right side of the abdomen, just below the liver. Its main function is to store bile, a digestive fluid produced by the liver that helps in breaking down fats.

Gallbladder cancer is considered a rare condition. When detected at an early stage, treatment outcomes are often favorable. However, in many cases, gallbladder cancer is diagnosed at an advanced stage, where treatment becomes more challenging and the outlook is less positive. Early detection is difficult because this cancer often develops without clear or noticeable symptoms.

Another reason gallbladder cancer is hard to identify early is the organ’s position within the body. Because the gallbladder is located deep within the abdomen, cancer can grow and spread before it is discovered.
